KRISTIN - BRIDAL SHOOT

Last Thursday we traveled down to Scottsdale to photograph a bridal shoot for Kristin. You may remember Kristin from her engagement shoot this past fall in Flagstaff. She and her fiance, Kyle, are getting married next month in Florida, but living in the valley they wanted to conduct the other relevant shoots nearer to home.

The shoot took place at DC Ranch Country Club. What an exquisite location! She couldn't have chosen a nicer backdrop. The staff was extremely kind and accommodating and made us all feel right at home. Kristin, who is nearly six feet tall, looked amazing in her dress which was, as one DC staff member so eloquently quoted, "perfectly suited to her long, willowy frame." Her mother, Karin, had just flown in that morning from Texas and had the joy of seeing her daughter all dressed up for the first time. One really nice touch was Kristin's choice of necklace, a double strand of her grandmother's pearls, worn so many years ago at her own wedding.

The shoot lasted several hours and Kristin did a magnificent job! Thanks Kristin - again it was a pleasure working with you and you really were just as beautiful as we thought you would be. We wish you and Kyle the best and hope you have a lovely wedding day!

YVONNE - PORTRAIT SHOOT

My friend and fellow wedding colleague, Yvonne Baca, of Northern Arizona Wedding Planner, needed some portraits taken of herself for promotional use. Yvonne is a bit, how shall I say ... camera shy :-), and though we had originally already done this shoot, neither of us were real happy with the outcome. So last Tuesday, we headed out for a re-shoot in Flagstaff the day after one of our wonderful winter snowstorms.

The first time around Yvonne dressed up, wore jewelry she rarely wears, had someone do her makeup, pulled her hair back and chose Sedona as her backdrop. Ultimately deciding that none of this adequately captured who she really is in spirit, she went a totally different, and I must say, all around better route for shoot two. Wearing jeans and a pretty sweater, no jewelry, makeup she did herself, hair down and choosing Flagstaff's snow-covered peaks as her backdrop, Yvonne felt much more herself and in her element - and it showed through in the resulting images. You looked beautiful Yvonne and believe it or not, I had fun traipsing around in waist deep snow!

PITA AND TROY - ALBUM

We finished Pita and Troy's album last week and are really happy with the outcome! We just love making albums and feel they are so important to have. This is where 1000 photos plus dwindles to less than 100, telling the narrative of the day in a collection of the very best images. Ultimately, this is the heirloom that gets passed down through the generations, and in our minds that is a very powerful thing!

SNOW - ROUND THREE

This past Sunday, we experienced round three of this winter's big snowstorms - another couple of feet ... what an AMAZING winter :-).
