LUANNE AND CHRISTIAN WEDDING

Hold on to your hats - this post is going to be a bit longer than normal. Last Friday we photographed the wedding of LuAnne and Christian at Harvest Groves in Phoenix. You may rememer these two from only a couple of postings ago with their engagement photos - they were the silly, fun couple who loved to have a great time! As expected their jovial personalities spilled over into their wedding day along with all those in attendance.
Remembering LuAnne's comments on the day of her engagement shoot about the fact that she was certain it wouldn't rain on her big day, Kevin and I felt rather bad for her as we embarked on our jouney that morning from Flagstaff, first in heavy snow, then onto a miserable mix near Sedona, torrential downpours in the Verde Valley, and finally a light, but steady rain in Phoenix. It was OK though, as this couple let nothing - not even rain in Phoenix, "The Valley of the Sun", the freakin Sonoran Desert for god sakes - stand in the way of their perfect wedding day ... and of course having fun in typical LuAnne and Christian style!
The couple and their guests sucked it up, taking their vows - and their photographs - outdoors. It couldn't have been more beautiful, and from a photographic standpoint rain only serves to enhance the richness and saturation of bright colors. So, in reality, as they look back over their images, they will come to realize it was actually a blessing in disguise :-).
Thank you LuAnne and Christian - and everyone attending - for being so much fun to work with! You were all truly unique and amazing people and we couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more (we don't know if we have ever laughed that much at a wedding before.) Also, we wish to exptend a special thank you to Leigh and Mai of Cheval Events for doing such a beautiful job coordinating this event and for helping us keep things on track! A final thank you goes out to Christian's sister, Grace Macy, for being so sweet. She set up her own website of photos she took at the wedding (excellent pics by the way) and she was so thoughtful to include a page of photos she had taken of all the vendors and extending her thanks - thank you Grace for noticing!
Lastly, part of the reason this post is longer than usual is because we wish to acknowledge our new assistant in training, Joyce Day! Joyce is training under us to become a third shooter. She has an AMAZING eye and a drive to learn the wedding industry and we couldn't be happier to have her! This was her first wedding and she came up with some superb images that we wanted to share. Thanks Joyce and welcome aboard!

SNOW - ROUND FOUR

We had another round of snowstorms over the weekend and as usual it was a beautiful sight. We are trying to soak it all in because we know it will probably be quite some time before we see another winter like this one!

LUANNE AND CHRISTIAN - ENGAGEMENT SHOOT

This past Saturday we headed back to the valley again - this time Tempe - to photograph LuAnne and Christian's engagement shoot. This was seriously one of the most fun couples we have ever photographed - they were an absolute riot, as we are sure you will gather from their images!

They had the greatest idea for their shoot - to personalize it in every respect. We started at their home where we took photos of them in their living room, walking around the block (something they love to do), riding their bicycle (one on the handlebars), and having a mock kung-fu fight with a discarded palm frond in front of their first home together. From there we moved on to a nearby park that they frequent, where they climbed walls (literally), played muscle-men with trees, and LuAnne presented Christian with a special pinecone. The park also holds an extra special place in both of their hearts, as this is where Christian proposed, which he re-enacted for all of us.

Their wedding is in less than two weeks and we can't wait! It is going to be a load of fun! Looking forward to it guys!
